Fishing Report 10/8/14
Inshore
The mullet run is in full swing! These tasty inshore treats
have made their way inside the inlet and snook, Jacks, tarpon and sharks are
having their way with them. Fishing
areas like “Beer Can” just north of Boynton Beach Inlet has been good for large
jacks, snook and sharks as this area is holding large numbers of mullet. Large
mullet schools can be found just off the beach up and down the coast. Tarpon
are the main focus just off the beach. Try using live mullet with a 4/0 or 5/0
circle hook depending on the size of the mullet you have.
Offshore
October is here, one of my favorite times of year for
fishing. The mahi mahi are showing up in good numbers from Palm Beach through
Jupiter. Live mullet and google eyes are the bait of choice. Slow trolling and
drifting in 90-150’ with these baits is your best bet. Don’t forget to have a
pitch bait ready like a D.O.A. Baitbuster for the passing dolly. The blackfin
tuna have started to show slowly. Trolling deep diver plugs and vertical
jigging from 200’ to 300’ will get you on these fish.

Fishing Report 6/1/14
Inshore
The top water bite has picked up in the early morning hours of the day. I like using a DOA Airhead rigged weedless and weightless popped across the top for snook, trout and redfish. Getting up early will become critical in the coming hot summer months. The flats will be holding fish shallow in the wee hours of the day. Don't totally write off fishing mid morning and early afternoon, just rethink your approach. Look to move to deeper water as that sun gets higher in the sky. A DOA shrimp will work well during these times, as well as a jerkbait and jig head. Glass minnows have moved in good so trying to match that hatch will be your best bet.
Offshore
The large blackfin tuna bite was on fire for a few weeks, but has since slowed. Don't give up on these guys just yet, there are still some jumbos around. Live goggle eyes have been the key for them at the current time but don't over look your vertical jigs and trolling plugs. Jigging has been producing a good number of bonita as well as small blackfin tuna. Having a quality depth finder and marine chart will increase your odds of finding areas where these guys are holding. Throwing one of these little blacks on wire rig can be a great way to pick up a wahoo or large billfish. Have some double stingers rigged and ready to get them on the hook fast and back out. There has also been a lot a school size dolphin. Make sure to have a pitch bait ready like a DOA terror Eyz or Baitbuster when these inquisitive little guys surround your yak.

Fishing Report 4/8/14
Inshore
Spring time fishing is here! Good numbers of large trout are being caught in their normal spring time locations. Try using a bait fish type lure like a DOA Airhead or jerk bait. The water has been pretty clear lately so focus on natural colored baits. Mangroves and docks have been holding good numbers of trout, redfish and snook. On the flats large trout are feeding well on outgoing tides up and down the river.
Offshore
The live bait bite was on fire early in the last two weeks. Lots of dolphin and kingfish being caught in the Palm Beach and Jupiter areas. Dolphin have been in the 6-15lb range with a few over 15lbs. We have caught and seen sailfish every trip offshore the last few weeks. Focus on live baiting 130'-180' for the sails, kings and dolphin. Making your way out a little deeper the blackfin tuna have showed up along with some bonita. We have been catching them on the troll as well as jigging. Try trolling from 170'-240' and jigging starting in 220' working your way out till you start finding them. 3-6oz vertical jigs will put a few of these tasty guys in the fish bag.

Fishing Report 3/24/14
Inshore
Fishing the last few weeks was pretty good with a good mix of species. Fishing the Stuart area with DOA shrimp as well as live shrimp produced redfish, pompano, black drum, flounder, sheepshead, trout, snook and bluefish. Fishing the flats that have some grass has been key. Work pot holes and channel edges, popping the shrimp cross or down current. Pompano have thinned, but are still a few around to put on the dinner plate.
Offshore
Dolphin, sailfish, kingfish and a few cobia have been the species being talked about the last few weeks. Weather as not been the best for us to get out, but we did manage one day that brought sailfish and kingfish to the yak. Live bait like goggle eyes and blue runners continue to be your best bet. Rig them up with a 50lb stinger rig and 40-50lb florocarbon leader. Target 60-90' for cobia and as you head out you should find the kings in 110-140'. Sailfish will be in the 120-180' and head deep for the dolphin.
